About me

My own counselling journey takes its roots in an early interest in people and humanity and in the power of interactions between human beings. In my life so far, I have experienced many significant events and changes. Some have filled me with pain and sorrow, others with joy and love. All have played an important part in shaping the person I am today. My motivation to learn from my life experiences and integrate them into my being, teamed with my natural warmth and ability to make empathic connections with people, were good attributes to follow the path of a counselling career and help others.

My training, experience and professional memberships

I hold the following counselling qualifications:

  • Certificate in Counselling Skills, Peter Symonds College, Winchester
  • TA 101, Iron Mill Institute, Exeter
  • Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling (BACP accredited), Iron Mill Institute, Exeter

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I respect their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am also a UKRCP (United Kingdom Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) Registered Independent Counsellor.

My work is fully supervised by experienced and registered supervisors and I regularly engage in personal therapy and Continuing Professional Development. I am fully insured and have enhanced CRB clearance.

I have worked in a school and a university counselling service. As well as my private practice, I work as a Bereavement Practitioner for a Dorset charity supporting bereaved children and families.

I am a professional member of the Institute of Transactional Analysis (ITA) and the Hampshire Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (HACP).

I have created and run Salisbury CPD, organising first class CPD events for counsellors and psychotherapists.

My approach

I offer my clients a safe and containing space where they can explore their difficulties, in complete confidence. I commit myself to deal with issues without judging, to respond honestly, openly and with respect and to be warm, caring and supportive. I work in a holistic way, where the whole of the person is considered - in mind, body, emotion and spirit. My approach is humanistic and integrative, weaving a broad range of theoretical models to suit each client and issue into a coherent work of healing and growth, at the core of which is the relationship with my client.

My practice room

My counselling room is a dedicated studio in the privacy and tranquillity of my garden. Situated in a quiet residential area, my practice is conveniently reached on foot or by bus from the city centre. Car and cycle parking is also available.
